Overview
Reporting to the Branch Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Calgary Branch. This includes assigning and monitoring the work of Yard staff, monitoring adherence to safe work practices, inventory control of product and samples. The Branch Operations Coordinator will work with staff to ensure exceptional customer service, efficient operations, and a safe workplace. The Branch Operations Coordinator is the leader of the Yard and Sample team and will exemplify the behavior we strive for in all branch staff.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
People Management
- Responsible for the assignment and monitoring of work done by Yard staff with the support of the BOM
- Training of staff for procedures, policies and safety, and product knowledge
- Feedback to the BOM on performance of Yard staff
- Review any difficult staff issues with the BOM
- Pre-approve OT and sign off on timesheets, ensuring accuracy
- Schedule staff to provide service and minimize costs
Customer Service & Sales
- Stays visible in the branch and in the yard
- Ensures BOM is notified about performance to daily schedule
- Work with sales team to meet customer service standards
- Arrange delivery of outbound orders when requested
Yard, Building, & Equipment
- Keeps assets always maintained and secure
- Maintains an orderly yard
- Ensures no contaminants dumped in our yard or in our waste bins
Safety
- Ensures all health and safety policies are always followed
- Responsible for safety of employees and customers
- Ensures all Inventory is stacked in a safe manner
- Reports any safety or security concerns promptly to the BOM
Inventory Management
- Manages and directs Cycle Count process
- Ensures stock is rotated and maintained
- Allocates space wisely
- Maintains Sample Inventory including ordering, receiving, issuing, building, and cycle counting
Administration & General
- Ensures all company policies are followed by themselves and staff
- Complete and maintain courses in first aid, WHMIS and forklift certification
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar operations coordinator role
- Excellent knowledge of the building products industry, practices, and standards
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management skills, specifically the ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Forklift Certification would be an asset or willingness to obtain one
- Basic accounting competency with an understanding of invoicing and billing procedures.
- Strong leadership abilities to inspire and coach employees to accomplish strategic goals and related tasks. This includes training, motivating employees and managing performance.
- Previous experience working in retail and preferably, construction
- Proficiency in MS Office and comfortable learning new computer programs
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
